Disney® Delightful Treats

By April 20, 2016Blog

Not only is Disneyland® Resort known for its magical theme park with rides that take you back to your childhood and one-of-a-kind performances and entertainment, but they also have some of the best treats you’ll ever get the pleasure of tasting. But as much as I love some (okay all) of the delight Disney® treats, I’m not always able to take a quick trip there just to satisfy my cravings of dole whip and clam chowder. I’m sure many of you also find yourselves in this same pickle, but don’t fret, we’re here to save those growling tummies. We’ve compiled a short list of copy cat recipes of some of your favorite Disneyland® dishes.

This is one of my personal faves. This sweet treat is perfect for a hot, sunny day. These are so good your kids will think you drove all the way to Disneyland® just to buy a few orders of it. These copycat dole whips require only a few ingredients and take less than 15 minutes to prepare. Read below for the ingredients and instructions.

Ingredients

  • 2- 20 oz cans of crushed pineapples
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 2 tables spoons of sugar OR 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 1- 18 oz container whipped topping (cool whip)
  • Pineapple juice, chilled

Instructions

  • Combine crushed pineapples with juice, lemon juice, sugar (or honey) into a heavy blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Add the cool whip and blend again until smooth.
  • Add to ice cream maker until it has the consistency of soft serve ice cream. If you don’t have an ice cream maker you can add some ice into your blender and blend until smooth.
  • To serve, fill cup halfway with pineapple juice and top off with blended mixture. Last, but not least, enjoy!

The clam chowder bread bowls are the perfect meal to enjoy while propped on the curb, or if you’re lucky enough a table, while watching the night parades. Clam chowder is a true comfort food and Disneyland® nailed it. Putting the chowder in a bread bowl makes it that more enjoyable. Here’s a recipe for you to try at home.

3. Disneyland’s Hand Dipped Corn Dogs

I always get a whiff of these succulent turkey legs when walking through Frontierland and it gets harder every time to pass them up. I never knew how to go about making these smokey turkey legs but I’m glad I found this recipe. If turkey legs are one of your favorite meals to get at Disneyland® and you’d like to try them at home, get the recipe here.

5. Caramel and Chocolate Covered Marshmallows

I can’t finish off this list without adding a dessert! The caramel and chocolate marshmallows are especially for the sweet lovers. These fluffy marshmallows covered in chocolate, caramel, and nuts (if you like that extra crunch) can be found in multiple places around the park and are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. This recipe is super simple and can be modified to your liking.

Ingredients

  • Bag of medium-large marshmallows
  • 11 oz bag of caramels (or you can make your own)
  • 4-6 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped nuts of your choice (optional)
  • 1 package almond bark (chocolate coating)

Instructions

  • Over medium heat, melt caramels in a small saucepan with the heavy cream. Start with 4 tablespoons and add 1-2 if needed. Slowly stir caramels until completely melted
  • Insert a skewer or caramel apple stick into 3 large marshmallows. Melt chocolate over a double boiler or in microwave according to package instructions.
  • Coat marshmallows with melted caramel and roll in nuts, if not using nuts skip. Allow caramel to cool onto marshmallows before dipping in chocolate
  • Cover caramel marshmallows in chocolate. Allow to set in refridgerator for 15-20 minutes to cool
  • Serve!
