Don’t Make These Mistakes When Visiting Disneyland

You may be thinking “How can you make mistakes by simply visiting a theme park?” We are here to tell you that it is absolutely possible to make mistakes when visiting Disneyland® Resort in California. Lets face it, you may be a first timer and don’t know what to expect when visiting the happiest place on earth and if you’re not a first timer you may get so excited and overlook things. Some of these mistakes are extremely common and may seem so small in the grand scheme of things but they can easily make or break your trip. The good news is that these mistakes are completely avoidable. We’ve come up with this small list of some of the most commonly made mistakes in hopes that you will avoid them for your next visit.

Mistake #1: Wearing Sandals, Not Bringing Sunblock or A Hat

Mistakes When Visiting DisneylandAlthough these are three different things they all go hand in hand. We understand, it gets hot in Anaheim and you may feel compelled to wear sandals as to not have your feet cramped into socks and tennis shoes all day but unless you have extremely comfortable sandals, this is a huge mistake. You’ll be walking around a huge theme park  so you will want to wear the appropriate shoes. Tennis shoes will not only help you with the discomfort from being on your feet all day but you’ll avoid painful blisters and the unfortunate event of getting your toes stepped on or rolled over by one of the many strollers you will encounter. Because it can be so hot in Anaheim you want to double up on your sun protection by wearing sunblock and bringing a hat, especially for your little ones. Disneyland is fun but having to deal with a sunburn is no fun at all. Remember, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Mistake #2: Not Eating

Mistakes When Visiting Disneyland

The excitement of Disneyland® Resort can easily distract you from something as simple as keeping yourself hydrated and nourished throughout the day. Its easy to get into a state of tunnel vision where you go from one ride or attraction straight to another and before you know it, you haven’t eaten in hours. You want to keep your energy up throughout the day so its important to pack snacks. Assuming that you will be eating lunch and/or dinner in the park, try to eat your meals at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. instead of 12 and 6 p.m. to avoid the large dining crowds and longer ordering lines. It might also be easier to find a place to sit and eat.

Mistake #3: Aiming To Ride and Do Everything

Wanting to ride and do everything in one day is unrealistic. Focusing on trying to do everything can deter you away from genuinely enjoying yourself and could possibly cause a meltdown later in the day, especially if you have smaller children with you. A better solution to this is to plan ahead. Make note, ahead of time, of the things you really want to do as to minimize the overwhelming feeling and be sure to use your Disney’s FASTPASS® Service!

Mistake #4: Over Packing

Its better to be prepared than to not be, but there is such thing as being overly prepared. When packing your Disneyland® backpack only pack what is absolutely necessary. Packing too much will hurt you down the line and will be more harmful than helpful. Watch our Disneyland® Backpack Checklist video to get an idea of what the essentials are.

Mistake #5: Not Bringing Extra Entertainment

Why should you bring extra entertainment when you’re at the happiest place on earth? Its no secret that the lines at Disneyland® can be long and sometimes draining. Little activities while in line can be extremely helpful in keeping you children occupied and distracted from the long wait times.
