The Anaheim Convention Center has begun expanding once again, offering even more activities and events for families visiting the Anaheim area! As if Disneyland, Angels and Ducks games, and the bustling Packing District weren’t enough reason to visit this vibrant neighborhood, you never know what surprises the ACC will bring to town. Located down the street and around the corner from Grand Legacy at The Park’s front entrance, it’s a great resource for entertainment, classes and information.
The new expansion began earlier this year in March and is projected to continue through the summer of 2017. 200,000 square feet will be added in order to accommodate more events and attendees. Due to its current size, the ACC has found it difficult to maximize its potential in hosting multiple events at the same time; the leftover galleries and exhibit rooms are often not enough to sustain another booking, letting these empty rooms go to waste. According to the official expansion website, these additions will create 1,860 construction jobs over the next two years along with an additional tax revenue of $9 million every year for our community. Jay Burress, President and CEO of the Anaheim and Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau has said that 14 shows and events have already booked the new space once it becomes available in 2017.
But don’t let this ambitious project scare you away! Despite the construction, the ACC will still be open for business, hosting all sorts of events. If you’re in town from December 11 through the 13th, you can attend the Radix Dance Convention, a fun weekend full of dance workshops and friendly competitions (don’t worry if you can’t make it on such short notice, they’ll be back in July of next year!). Recent events include the Mecum car auction and the exciting JAMZ Cheer and Dance Competition and Expo. Check out the calendar of events to see if anything catches your eye.
