Many of you not from the Orange County area may not be familiar with ARTIC and are wondering what it is. Meet ARTIC, or the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, is Anaheim’s $188 million transportation facility meeting the needs of commuters, visitors, businesses and those just out for leisure travel. This beautifully engineered transportation center was designed for any type of traveler and built for the region’s transit needs for many years to come. ARTIC is surrounded by many well known attractions like the Angel Stadium, Honda Center, and just a few short miles away from the Disneyland Resort®, Anaheim Convention Center, and Grand Legacy At The Park. ARTIC has made traveling more affordable and most importantly, it connects you to your destination quicker and more efficiently.
ARTIC is not your typical transit center. It is a 67,000 square foot premier transportation hub owned and built by the City of Anaheim which offers more than just convenient travel. Here you are also met with nearby entertainment, a plethora of dining options, and convenient retail shopping all in a centralized location. ARTIC is your one stop shop for services like Metrolink, Amtrak, OCTA, Megabus.com, Anaheim Resort Transportation, Greyhound, taxis, bike access, and other public and private transportation needs.
ARTIC is designed in a way that is a destination for all with WiFi and charging stations for all of your mobile device needs. You also get to enjoy easy parking, bike racks, lockers and community space for all of the public. They also offer free Books on the GO!, a self service book vending machine station and “hot spot” for digital books from Anaheim Public Libraries.
Recently, Anaheim has released a proposed map for a streetcar that would link ARTIC to the Disneyland Resort® and the Convention Center. If approved, this $298.7 million streetcar service will drive a 3.2 mile route with 8 stops along the way. One of these stops include another brand new transportation center being built by Disneyland Resort® where the parks visitors hop off of their buses, taxis and the new streetcar service. This streetcar would transport an estimated 28,000 new residents that are expected to move into the Platinum Triangle of Anaheim near Angel’s Stadium over the next 10 years. Although there are some non-supporters of the streetcar, stating that it will make traveling worse for the residents, others feel that with this new addition of transportation to the ARTIC and the Anaheim Resort it will actually offer the general public more options that could have a positive effect on economic development, more jobs and improved mobility.
As you can see, ARTIC is making a way for residents and those visiting from out of town to look forward to using public transportation in a time where it could be seen as a not so enjoyable experience. They are giving its riders a modern and fun feel traveling. If you drive down the 57 Freeway you cannot miss this beautiful colorful building, especially at night. So the next time you visit the Anaheim Resort be sure to try out ARTIC and let us know what your experience is like!
