By December 11, 2015Blog

We’ll be the first to say it: we all love Disneyland! The happiest place on earth allows us to let our inner kid shine with the array of attractions and live entertainment. We’re able to relive childhood memories and interact with some of our favorite Disney characters. No matter your age, Disneyland is an incredible place to attend during a vacation or just a day off from work. Anaheim also holds so many other lovely and family-friendly activities to check out, within and nearby, for those who want to see what else the city has to offer. Here we have compiled a list of the top 5 things to do in this beautiful coastal city not far from our hotel.

Huntington Beach

Huntington Beach, or Surf City USA as it’s known, is located just 30 minutes from the hotel. Surf City USA offers 8 miles of surf breaks and plenty of public parking lots. If you’re interested in learning how to ride the California waves, beginner’s lessons are available. Once you’re done crashing the waves, take a gander into the International Surfing Museum, visit the Surfer Hall of Fame or view the Surfing Hall of Fame street plaques. Pick up some grub at the beach side restaurants and pubs to end your surf-tastic day. Surf City USA gives a small-town feel that families are sure to love.

Discovery Cube

Discovery Cube has mastered bringing fun and hands-on learning together in their one-of-a-kind science center, which is located 20 minutes from the hotel. DC offers over a dozen interactive exhibits such as Dino Quest; the world’s first interactive dinosaur adventure, the virtual Helicopter Tour, a 4D Theater and a Planetary Research Station. Discovery Cube also features holiday-themed exhibits like the Science of Gingerbread, which has a number of activities. The Gingerbread Spices and Build a House Learning Station are a must-see! For the minds eager to explore new things in a fun-filled, yet safe environment, Discovery Cube is the perfect place.

Angel’s Stadium

If you’re a sports fanatic or love the energy at live sporting events, watching a baseball game at Angel’s Stadium is the ideal outing. If you can’t catch a game while you’re in town, there are also stadium tours that are available or don’t miss out on capturing a great photo with the giant baseball cap.

Flightdeck Air Combat Center

The Flightdeck Center is an attraction where you can engage in air-to-air combat, pilot a fighter jet for takeoffs as well as landings and perform different aerial maneuvers in an authentic military flight simulator. Classroom training and in-flight instructions are provided for those who are flying. And for those that aren’t participating, they can relax in the Officers Club and watch the action on 10 LCD screens.

Downtown Disney District

This Disney-themed promenade has a variety of shops like ESPN Zone Studio Store, Disney Vault 28 and The Lego Store, to name a few. Catch a feature film at the luxury movie theater or drinks, dancing and a concert at the House of Blues or even live outdoor music or parades, all up and down the promenade. Choose from over a dozen restaurants and cafes to satisfy your hunger. What ever fun-filled activity you desire, Downtown Disney District is sure to have it and the best part is that it’s located right outside of Disneyland!
