Knott’s Scary Farm Opening Night!

By October 28, 2015Blog

Do you want to get frightened? Do you like that adrenaline rush of running throughk unknown places with monsters jumping out of the darkness? Do you like spooky music, walkways full of fog, and gruesome sights? If you answered YES to any of these questions, then you must make your way to Knott’s Scary Farm this month!

I had the pleasure of joining our Disney Insider, OnTheGoOc, for the Opening Night Press Event! I have been to Knott’s Scary Farm twice in the past, but this visit was much different than before. I was treated like VIP all night since I was with the infamous bloggers, journalists, and press guests. We first picked up our press packets which included our tickets, fast pass tickets that they call FRIGHT LANE passes, our Skeleton Keys which were for a secret room in five select mazes, and some cool collector cards that gave insight to the Green Witch and her Deadly 7 Crew that haunts throughout the park.kk

We then made our way to a fully catered meal with thoughtful details to each and every part of dinner. I am a sucker for sweets and I jumped in joy when I saw these Frankenstein heads that looked almost too good to eat. Note ‘almost’. I had to try the delicious light mousse that was placed inside the hollow chocolate head with berries atop. It was too good to be true. The food and drinks were so good, but I had so much anticipation to get to the main attraction, the eleven mazes! Yes, eleven mazes, the most of any park in Southern California. The crowd was just right for opening night. Nine out of the eleven mazes were not too crowded and at times I felt like I was the only one walking through the maze. The very first onekkkk we went through, Gunslinger’s Grave, was one of the scariest and it seemed to go on forever. It was so elaborate and lengthy that I felt like I was never coming out…alive.

With the heightened adrenaline we decided to keep it going and jump on the Silver Bullet, their suspended roller coaster that takes you upside down six times! We had the Fright Lane passes that allowed us to jump to the front of the lines for all the mazes but not the park rides. Surprisingly the rides had no lines so we literally ran up and got on the ride. The mazes were a different story. Lines were long and got longer as the night progressed. We barely got all eleven mazes done between 7:30pm and 1am so if you plan on seeing it all, definitely consider the Fright Lane pass. My other favorite (most scary!) mazes were The Tooth Fairy and Trick or Treat. The Tooth Fairy maze was one of the five that had the Skeleton Key Room. Before we started the maze, we were brought into a small private bedroom where a little boy wept and kkkscreamed that his brother was taken by a monster. He was then snatched up by a monster in the closet, right in front of our eyes! To start the maze we had to go through the scary closet! This opening act was about three minutes long, and if you had a regular pass you would not see this part. So I just told you a little secret about the secret room…shhhhh!

Two things we didn’t get to do, which I am super bummed about, was Special Ops INFECTED and Elvira’s Asylum show! The Special Ops INFECTED is a new interactive maze where you shoot zombies with a laser gun. I was told you get to do this for about
kkkkkkthirty minutes; that probably explained the hour+ wait. We couldn’t fit it into the night, but I heard so many great things that I might just go back to do this. I had no clue that the original Elvira still performed live shows and there were two show times to see her in action. By luck, we crossed paths with her when she was walking from her dressing room to the showroom. kkkkkkkShe looked like she hadn’t aged a bit. I’m sure it was a great show to see. Overall, I had an AMAZING time at Knott’s Scary Farm’s opening night! The length and theme of each maze was unique and
well thought-out. With the Fright Lane pass, there was no waiting, which made the night full of 100% excitement and non-stop fun. Walking around with six other bloggers from Orange County, made for a great time and I hope that everyone visiting the Anaheim area will venture just a little further out and enjoy the Knott’s Scary Farm experience while it’s open!
